To fight those tendencies, to draw your mind from the world and turn it towards the Atman is therefore an uphill task. It is a long struggle. But the struggle is worth taking. For it is to save you from the clutches of your enemies, who have usurped your inner throne. The enemies are strong and will refuse to vacate their seats unless you wage a direct war against them with force and clarity. Infinite glory, which is your birthright, is now lying lost to you. Would you like this loss? Would you accept defeat from your sense enemies? Would you like to remain eclipsed as you now are? So fight the senses. Conquer them and recapture your own inner dominion, and establish the benign spiritual rule. Let your lost glory be once again your own. The strength to enter into the fight must come from your discrimination. The inspiration to carry on the fight until the end to earn victory, and the knowledge of the different fighting tactics, these two must be derived from the experience you gain during meditation. The benefits and strength which meditation bestows are great and invaluable. You cannot have them from any other source. So be regular in your meditation. Be serious and devout in your self-enquiry, in your introspection. Do not fall a prey to tardiness in practising meditation and vichaara. Do not also be postponing.
