026 – The Wide-spread Net of Worldliness | Voice of Upanishads | Swami Nirviseshananda Tirtha

1857 Views | 3 years ago

Nature is abound with examples to illustrate how foolish we humans can be. Being one who is so full of love and with a connectivity to animals, it is only befitting that Swami Nirviseshananda Tirtha uses these illustrations to demonstrate how we get trapped, and his wisdom to show us the way out.

Whether we are like the deluded fish thinking it is safe while snared in the fisherman’s net, or the ignorant frog still eating flies even as it meets its end in the jaws of a snake, the point is this – as long as we think anything from the world can make us permanently happy, we are lost causes. It is only with the grace of our Spiritual Masters and the loving voice of our scriptures, that our human intelligence gets activated to start turning inward. And only then will we understand that true permanent joy lies deep within, and is nothing other than our very own immortal Self.

Verses discussed:
Kathopanishad 2.1.2, 2.1.3
Bhagavad Gita 18.64, 18.65, 18.66
