Swami Nirviseshananda Tirtha

03 Shanti Mantras | Self-addressed Prayers | Swami Nirviseshananda Tirtha

1881 Views | 2 years ago

In this absorbing talk, Swamiji does a very deep analysis of the monosyllable ‘OM’.
“Omkara,” says Swamiji, “is the symbol of Brahmavidya. It is not a knowledge to be attained but the Truth which is our own real identity, the Consciousness. Taittiriya Upanishad, Maandukya Upanishad and other Upanishads have explained OM in great detail.”

“Omkara is also used as a help or support for meditation. If you chant Om in a proper, prolonged manner, when the syllable ‘Mm’ gets dissolved into silence, your mind also will dissolve into silence where there would be no thoughts.”

Swamiji also speaks about the wealth of knowledge possessed by the great Rishis of our land. This experiential knowledge made them understand their own immortality.

Shanti Mantras discussed:
Om Yashchandasaamrshabho vishwaroopah.......
Om Aham Vrikshasya reriva.......
