Swamiji begins the talk by speaking about the possibility of transformation for a person. He says that the possibility of change in the physical level is limited, but in the mental and intelligential level there is much more freedom for a person to bring about transformation.
Swamiji explains the section where Sri Krishna discusses the activities performed under the influence of each Guna and their results. Those influenced by pure intention under Sattva, the results of their activities are uplifting, satisfying and bestow goodness. Raajasa actions are motivated by selfish desires and a partial vision under the spell of agitation of mind and their actions lead to unhappiness. Those dominated by Tamas commit sinful activities and are deeply drowned in delusion and ignorance.
Swamiji emphasizes that a knower who perceives all actions as a mere play of Gunas and rises above doership and enjoyership attains the transcendental state and merges in the Divine presence.

Those days, there were many rats staying in various pockets of the tiled roof. My room had a very low ceiling and I could even touch the roof tiles. At night, I would see big, big rats running around just near me.
I got back to my daily chores, but the scene remained in my mind – the old man’s wrinkled face, his gleaming eyes, the contentment he enjoyed, his refusal to accept more than ‘his minimum needs’! How many of us can take such a stand?
Bhakti is not so much in the worship with flowers, garlands, lamps or incense sticks. Neither it is in chanting His names and praises. It is verily in living and acting according to the wish of the Lord, pleasing Him, imbibing qualities and attitudes that He wants us to imbibe.
