Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha

Message for Teacher’s Day

332 Views | 2 years ago

This is an online talk delivered by Poojya Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha. Although this inspirational message was given for the benefit of a group of trainee teachers, it is a universal message for all teachers.

Swamiji says that teachers are the foundation of our whole education system and are the building blocks of a nation. From time immemorial, India has celebrated Guru Poornima in honour of the great teachers of our land. This is considered to be the most auspicious day, when teachers and disciples sit together and study the sacred spiritual texts.

Motivating the young teachers, Swamiji says that teachers are the abode of knowledge and their personality should inspire the students to love and adore them. This is a noble pursuit beyond any monetary gains. Imparting knowledge and moulding the future generation should be considered as a holy mission of life, says Swamiji.

Discussing the role of teachers, Swamiji says that a good teacher instills confidence, promotes values and nurtures hidden qualities in a student. Teachers develop the skill and mindset of the students. With love and patience, a teacher conquers the hearts of the students and becomes a role model for them and influences their life deeply. The students remember their esteemed teachers throughout their life with fondness and gratitude.

In conclusion, Swamiji exhorts the teachers to have a new orientation in the matter of understanding values and sharing them with the students. He urges all teachers to enrich, empower and reinforce themselves as teachers and become proficient in the art of teaching.
